As Election Day approaches in about a month, Vice President Kamala Harris and her supporters are intensifying their focus on the Capitol riot that occurred on January 6, 2021, alongside Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
Trump has consistently referenced the 2020 election at nearly every rally he holds. However, Harris’s closing argument appears to be taking shape through statements made by former Congresswoman Liz Cheney and key aides from Trump’s administration.
“Our democracy faces an unprecedented threat—a former president who sought to maintain power by dismantling our democratic foundations and refusing to acknowledge lawful results confirmed by numerous courts regarding the 2020 election,” Cheney stated during an event in Ripon, Wisconsin—the birthplace of the Republican Party—on Thursday night.
The campaign efforts led by Harris will gain momentum next week when an external organization hosts Cassidy Hutchinson—former aide to Trump—alongside Cheney and two other ex-Trump staffers at a gathering in Pennsylvania.
