Nestled at the intersection of Strathcona Provincial Park and the stunning shores of Discovery Passage in Campbell River, Naturally Pacific Resort emerges as a remarkable destination.
First Impressions on Arrival
During our first trip together, my daughter and I had just spent an exhilarating day exploring Butchart Gardens and hiking up the scenic trails around Malahat Skywalk. Upon arriving at the resort, we were warmly greeted by a helpful bellhop who assisted us with our luggage.
A Legacy Built on Community Values
The Mailman family represents a long-standing presence in Campbell River. They have developed various residential properties throughout Canada but this resort marks their inaugural venture into boutique hospitality. Collaborating with Vancouver’s CHIL Interior Design has resulted in a structure that harmonizes beautifully with its forested landscape and nearby golf course.

The rooms feature designs inspired by nature, showcasing textures in blue and green tones, earthy furniture choices, stone countertops, and elegant minimalist details. On the third floor are 12 pet-friendly rooms equipped with luxurious “Naturally Pawcific” Yeti dog beds and water bowls. Additionally, there are two full-service washing stations for dogs located on each end of this level.
Room rates vary depending on the season—double queen accommodations start at $465 per night; single kings are available for $405; while executive suites go for $585 per night.

The resort’s restaurant, Carve Kitchen & Meatery, boasts expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views while incorporating sound-dampening grey baffling reminiscent of Campbell River’s natural beauty. Executive Chef Ryan Watson draws creativity from an impressive 10,000-square-foot garden that includes an apiary and orchard right on-site. He partners with local farmers across Vancouver Island to bring guests fresh ingredients whenever feasible.

The menu caters to breakfast through dinner service for both guests and visitors alike. Mornings were made special with hearty steel-cut oats paired with fresh berries alongside refreshing orange juice before setting off for daily excursions. However, it was dinner where Chef Watson truly excelled. My daughter and I relished every moment spent here on our final evening as we reminisced about whale sightings and connections made amidst untouched wilderness.
We began our meal with basil-infused watermelon artfully arranged atop heirloom tomatoes complemented by thin slices of watermelon radish along with creamy burrata cheese topped off by fragrant fresh basil sprigs. For added texture yet sublime flavor balance came the OMG Onion Rings—thick-cut rings laced with crispy duck confit set against a vibrant daikon-carrot salad accompanied by a rich five-spice plum sauce below.
No visit would be complete without indulging in Campbell River’s signature dish: salmon prepared to perfection featuring crispy skin alongside charred broccolini enriched by silky chive citrus beurre blanc embellished thoughtfully with chili crunch—a delectable homage to local gastronomic traditions.
Savoring our chocolate layer cake infused delicately through hazelnut paste—a sophisticated Nutella experience—I couldn’t help but observe fellow diners grouped around locally crafted wooden tables illuminated under stunning twilight skies painted in vivid pinks blending into golden hues as they enjoyed their meals atop a rustic table enshrined with live-edge craftsmanship intertwined artistically within flowing blue resin representing its origin locale—all reflecting an idyllic dining atmosphere reminiscent effortlessly tied back home!

This organization offers a selection of six exciting tours focused on whale watching, bear viewing, and cultural immersion. For over two decades, Homalco has successfully navigated partnerships with luxury resorts and local providers. However, in 2021, they took an important step to independently manage these tours entirely, broadening access to these extraordinary adventures for visitors from all walks of life.
