JetZero’s upcoming plane features an innovative design known as the ”blended wing body” (BWB). This architecture is not only wider than conventional aircraft but also promises to revolutionize the cabin experience, allowing passengers greater comfort and space during flights. According to the official press release, “JetZero’s BWB model integrates wings and fuselage into a seamless shape that dramatically cuts aerodynamic drag.”
Significant Environmental Impact
This novel design is projected to reduce fuel usage by an impressive 50%, which could lead to substantial decreases in operational costs as well. Aligning with their sustainability objectives, Alaska Airlines aims for net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Their new investment in JetZero represents a crucial step toward realizing this ambitious environmental goal. Currently, Alaska Airlines operates various models of Boeing planes including the 737-9 Max alongside Embraer 175s.

JetZero has established ambitious plans aiming for its aircraft’s maiden flight by 2030 and collaborates closely with NASA and the FAA on this exciting journey. The company recently secured $235 million from the U.S. Air Force, marking another significant achievement towards development goals set out in August 2023.
