Apple’s endeavor to develop its⁤ own wireless ‍chips has​ been extensive, but‍ it appears that a breakthrough may⁤ be approaching. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently shared on X that Apple plans to implement its proprietary Wi-Fi and Bluetooth‌ chips starting with the iPhone ⁢17, anticipated for ⁣release in the latter half of next year.

Kuo also concurs with a report from ⁣ 9to5Mac, ​indicating that the iPhone SE⁣ 4, which is expected to ⁣launch in spring⁢ 2025, ‌will be the first model equipped with Apple’s custom-built 5G⁣ modem. However, he notes that this device‍ will still ⁢rely on Broadcom’s third-party Wi-Fi chip while⁢ the iPhone 17 will ​debut both an Apple-designed modem ​and ​Wi-Fi chip.
