Trump Hosts Family of Marine Veteran at Nevada Rally
During a rally in Henderson, Nevada, former President Trump was accompanied on stage by the family of a marine veteran tragically murdered in Mexico.
A Father’s Grief and Call for Action
Retired Army Lt. Col. Warren Douglas Quets took the stage alongside Trump to honor his son, Nicholas Douglas Quets, a 31-year-old Marine veteran who had been involved in water reclamation projects for Pima County, Arizona.
Nicholas was fatally shot along the Caborca-Altar Highway in northern Mexico, just 30 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border on October 19.
“I never intended to be here,” Warren Douglas Quets shared with the audience. “Just two weeks ago, I was completely indifferent to politics; no one would have guessed my voting preferences.” He emphasized how dramatically his perspective shifted following his son’s death.
A Meeting with Leaders
The grieving father recounted that both Trump and Ohio Senator JD Vance met with him within three days after Nicholas’s murder.
“If you’re questioning where America stands or what stories are unfolding, you need not wonder any longer,” Quets stated passionately. ”The man beside me and his vice presidential candidate reached out to me within 36 hours of my request and took up this cause.”
The Impact of Policy Failures
“The policies that led to my son’s death are also responsible for other American lives lost,” he continued emphatically. “These same policies facilitate fentanyl trafficking into our nation—these are political failures we must rectify.”
Reports indicate that Mexican authorities suggested Nicholas did not stop at a cartel checkpoint, leading armed assailants to pursue and attack him directly.
Pursuing Justice Across Borders
While there have been arrests made by Mexican officials regarding this case, Quets expressed hope that the FBI would lead an investigation aimed at extraditing those responsible back to the United States for justice.
“What I seek is support for two key initiatives,” he explained further: “First is amending U.S. law so individuals committing crimes against American citizens—especially murder—are returned here for trial; second is legislation fostering military capabilities alongside institutional development efforts in Mexico.”
A Promise from Trump
The crowd listened intently as Quets shared how he felt Trump’s empathy during their conversation about Nicholas’s tragic fate and expressed confidence that if elected president again, Trump would fulfill his promise of seeking justice.
An Unmet Opportunity with Harris’ Campaign Team
Additonally, Quets mentioned attempts by his family to attend an event featuring Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate Governor Tim Walz but were turned away due to capacity issues without any opportunity for engagement with Walz himself.

Crowd Reaction and Commitment from Trump
“It’s remarkable how quickly they responded after such a devastating incident,” remarked Trump as attendees chanted “Nicholas!” in solidarity during his speech.
“I assure you—we will address this issue decisively,” he declared confidently while emphasizing plans against drug traffickers: “We will dismantle their operations which claim countless lives across our country.”
