Although I find it frustrating to be labeled as clumsy, I must admit that I’ve earned this reputation over time. Am I making an unwise choice? Perhaps. However, I’m drawn to the sleek industrial design of premium smartphones and prefer not to cover them with unattractive plastic cases.
The marketing hype surrounding top-tier Android devices featuring Gorilla Glass has also contributed to my indifference towards additional phone protection. Yet inevitably, one will fall—either due to my own clumsiness or simple gravity—and suffer cracks or dents.
That is until now with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Unyielding Protection
A standout moment occurred last August during a trip to Liverpool when I tossed my phone onto a hotel bed. Given its weighty design, the iPhone 15 Pro Max bounced off the duvet and flew through an open bathroom door before landing face-down on tiled flooring with an alarming thud.
I braced myself for bad news and was grateful that I’d brought along a backup Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra just in case things went south.
However, as I cautiously picked up the iPhone from the floor and flipped it over with trepidation, I was astonished—it was completely unscathed! There wasn’t even a scratch or dent visible; even the camera module appeared pristine.
This experience genuinely surprised me since similar falls had previously spelled disaster for other phones caught in what I’ve dubbed “clumsy mode.”
